Your roleYou operate the campaigns.

You choose goals, destinations, placements, approvals, and performance review steps.

Layer 8 Works roleSoftware and support boundaries.

Layer 8 Works provides the tool, documentation, and normal support boundaries, not proactive campaign management.

Real-world implementation

Placement matters as much as the QR code itself.

  • Place the QR code where the customer already has intent.
  • Use a clear call-to-action near the QR code.
  • Avoid awkward, unsafe, reflective, curved, or textured placements unless tested.
  • Use enough contrast and quiet space around the code.
  • Test from the expected scan distance with multiple phones.
  • Keep the destination aligned with the physical context.
Implementation guide

QA before printing or publishing

Do not print large batches until a physical proof has been scanned and approved.

  • The QR scans on iPhone and Android.
  • The destination opens correctly and is mobile-friendly.
  • The destination matches the printed call-to-action.
  • The QR code is not blurry and has enough contrast.
  • The code has enough spacing around it.
  • The scan distance has been tested.
  • Business information, dates, booking links, and payment links are correct.
  • The campaign name and placement are recorded.
  • The business owner or approver reviewed it.
Implementation guide

Reporting basics

Scans are activity signals. They are not automatically reviews, leads, bookings, sales, payments, customers, or revenue.

  • Separate QR scans from destination visits, form submissions, reviews, bookings, calls, and sales.
  • Use destination systems or business records to confirm outcomes.
  • Low scans may indicate a placement or call-to-action problem.
  • High scans with low outcomes may indicate a destination, form, or offer problem.

Troubleshooting

Use these checks when something is not working.

QR scans but the page does not load

  • Check the destination URL.
  • Open the destination manually on mobile.
  • Confirm the page is not blocked by login or permissions.

QR does not scan

  • Increase print size.
  • Improve contrast.
  • Use a clean background.
  • Re-download the QR image if it became blurry.

Scans are low

  • Improve placement.
  • Add a stronger call-to-action.
  • Place the QR closer to the customer moment.
  • Compare different placements.
